Yesterday Tim met with his Oncologist to discuss his latest PET scan results that showed the cancer is growing rapidly again. He’s been getting sicker over the past month with nausea and abdominal pain. There is only one option left – an older chemo regimen that has shown to extend survival time for most people by a few months. This chemo can have significant side-effects such as neuropathy in the hands and feet. Tim will start chemo this coming Friday. We’re trying to remain optimistic that Tim will respond as well as he did to the previous chemo regime. More time buys us more science, we hope. We’re also looking at experimental trials in hopes that some new treatment will become available.
Paul is still struggling with post-transplant and flu side-effects, notably fatigue and nausea. He’s ready to move past this. He’ll be seeing his Oncologist at Stanford tomorrow.
Fetid Adder's Tongue (Scoliopus bigelovii). This is one of the first native plants to bloom - December/January. It took us a few hikes in the redwood forests to find it.
